Book Character Day

It was the book character day today. It was a fun day. I dressed up as a princess.

We went to Te Tuhi to do a play it was called Snow white.  I was a reader it was fun reading.

We went to Tiritiri Matangi it was fun. In this picture there is a bird feeder it feeds the stitchbird and                                                                              the bellbird.

I am learning to tell the time on a analogue clock.  It was tricky to tell the quarter and half past.  I am      proud that I know a lot about time.  Next I will learn to tell the time in quarter and half past.

It was tricky to think of good ideas.  I am proud that I know how to 

write a narrative.  Next I will do longer sentences in my story.

Paragraphs

Fractions

I was learning fractions of shapes and groups.  I found it tricky to know which number is the numerator and which is the denominator.  I am proud that I know what halves and quarters are.  Next I will learn how to find fractions of numbers.

Bucklands Beach

Room 14 went to Bucklands Beach to clean up the mess there. In this photo we are pretending to be like fish by getting stuck in a net and trying to get out of the net without using our hands. It was great fun.

Snow White and the seven Dwrafs

On tuesday we went to Te Tuhi to do this thing called role play. Role play is when you do a play. The play we did was Snow White and the seven Dwrafs it was fun. In this picture I am making a poster about the play.

Features of a non-fiction text

                                              Features of a non- fiction text

1. What is a contents? A contents is a place in a book where you find a chapter or a page number.

2. What is a index? A index is a place at the end of the book where you can find some words.

3.What is a glossary? A glossary is a place where you can find a word that you don't understand and it tells you what it means.

4.What is a diagram? A diagram is the picture with labels in a non-fiction book.

5.Why is there more photographs than pictures? There is more photographs in non-fiction books because non-fiction books are real.

6.What is a map? A map is something that shows you where animals are.

My reflection:I was learning about features of a non-fiction text. It was tricky to explain what a diagram is. I am proud that I finally knew how explain what a diagram was. Next I will look for these features in a different non-fiction text.

What's a pencil?

A pencil's lead is black. 

A pencil is made of wood. 

It has different coloured paint on it. 

When you sharpen a pencil it gets smaller. 

You can write with a pencil and draw with a pencil. 

The paint feels smooth and the wood feels hard.

The pencil sharpenings go to the compost.

My Reflection
I am learning how to write an explanation. It was tricky to think of good words to explan what a pencil is. I am proud that my work is done. Next time I will do another one about something different.

3D shapes

I was learning to describe 3D shapes.
It was tricky to figure out what number of faces, edges and corners.
I am proud that I finished my work.
Next time I will do another one with different shapes.

2D shapes

I was learning to describe 2D shapes.
It was tricky to think of good words to describe the shapes.
I am proud that I have managed to do it.
Next time I will try to do better.

Multiplication and Division

I am learning to solve multiplication and division problems. This is the strategy that I am using. I must learn my multiplication and division tables.

                               This is me balancing on the bike. It was really hard to balance on the bike.

 I wrote this poem for mum. I decorated it a lot so she would like it. When I gave it to my mum she was so happy. I love my mum so much she does so much for me.

Pocket Money

Diamante Poem

I was learning about nouns, verbs and adjectives.  I found it tricky to think of a noun.  I am proud I did all my work. Next I will do a diamante poem about another animal.

The Big Blue Whale

In was learning to find important information from a non-fiction text. I found it tricky to find the  information and write it in my own words. I am proud I finished my work in time. Next I will use this  skill to find information about other animals.

I was learning to make tidy tens to help me solve my addition equations.  At first it was tricky to know which number to change into a tidy ten.  I am proud that I now understand this stage 5 strategy.  Next I                     will practise this strategy and try to use bigger numbers.

Lolly lei

Room 14 made some lolly leis.  My partner was Kieran. It was tricky to put the lollies in the lei. Next time I will tie some knots. It was fun to make the lolly leis.

I am learning to calculate the answer to my addition equations.

                                                          Reflection:
I used a stage 4 strategy to solve the equation. Next I must learn to breakup the numbers to help                                              me solve the equations.

I was learning to use descriptive words in my writing.

It was tricky to think of ''ing'' words for my did you ever poem. Next time I will work even harder to think of suitable words I could use a dictionary or a thesaurus for more ideas.
